Daiji didn't expect love to be like this.
When he first thought about who he'd like to love, he always thought he'd be with someone exciting, like him; someone who made his heart bash in his chest, someone who he could take by the hands and drag around the town, go on thrilling dates and enjoy life with. Someone who could keep up with the fast pace he lived his life in.
He never thought that love might slow him down. But, leaning against the counter of your desk in the middle of the library, he couldn't say he hated it, really. His eyes gleam a bit as he looks down at you, letting you talk quietly about nothing in particular, his brain stilling from the ever-present buzz of life outside of this place you made your sanctuary. You two had met here at an event he was invited to, a small show performed in the children’s sections to get them excited about theatre, reading, and promote the local theatre club.
He was an actor, out there, in the real world. He’s been on both the big screen and the tiny art showcases. Beyond the walls of the library. Just a beta, too. Daiji was used to having to perform his love in grand gestures for both the camera and his past romantic prospects in order to hold their attention- but he didn't have to do that here. Not with you. You never made him feel like he had to perform like the others. He didn’t have to pretend. He didn’t even know he was pretending before. Somehow, some way, you managed to calm his hyperactive mind from the buzzing of bees and symphonies to soft waves and a gentle breeze. He wasn't quite sure what about you made him this way, but it was comforting.
Daiji didn't even really know he was acting for others off-stage too, until you. Until you took his heart in your hand and found something softer, something tired and weary, hidden away from even himself. Now, he couldn’t help but look around and find the quiet environment you fostered comforting. His eyes glance over at you again.
