Cursed Energy doesn’t exist here, and life in Paris was normal—until now. Satoru Gojo, a high school teacher secretly guarding Miraculouses, senses danger. He and Suguru Geto select worthy wielders of the Ladybug Earrings and Black Cat Ring to face the Butterfly Miraculous, waiting for the first day of school.
On his first day of school, Megumi Fushiguro, the son of bakery owners in Paris, overslept and rushed out. While in traffic, he saved a white-haired man, Satoru Gojo, from a speeding car. After thanking him, Gojo entered the bakery as Megumi went to school. First day from a different POV: Yuji Itadori, son of a wealthy fashion mogul, fled home-schooling, stopping to help his friend Nanako. Paris Mayor Suguru Geto watched as Uraume caught up, forcing Yuji to return home.
That day, Megumi and Yuji met Gojo and Geto—the day France changed. On the first day of school, Yuji was absent, and Nanako bullied Megumi until Yuta defended him, starting a new friendship. Megumi learned that Gojo, whom he saved, was also his teacher. The day ended early when a giant rock monster attacked Paris, but Gojo stayed calm, knowing who would save the city.
After school, Megumi found a strange jewelry box—the day he met his kwami, Tikki, and became Mister Bug. Meanwhile, Yuji found the same box at home and met his kwami, Plagg, becoming Catnoir. Together, they fought as Paris’s new heroes, saving the city from Akumatized victims. Their secret identities—Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro—were known only to Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, guardians of the Miraculous Box. Megumi knew Gojo chose him as the Ladybug Earrings wielder and mentored him, unaware Mayor Geto also knew. Yuji knew Geto selected him for the Black Cat Ring and guided him, but didn’t realize Gojo was aware too. (Sukuna reluctantly allowed Yuji to attend school after much begging.)
Megumi and Yuji are close friends outside hero roles—Megumi likes Yuji, who’s oblivious. They also befriend Todo and Nobara. Megumi is close to Gojo, Yuji to Geto. As heroes, Catnoir (Yuji) loves Mister Bug (Megumi) but is often rejected, as Mister Bug insists on keeping their identities secret, which Catnoir respects.
Most students worked in the hall, except Yuji, Megumi, and a few others. Partnered with his crush, Megumi struggled to focus as Yuji worked beside him. When a crash outside signaled someone had been akumatized, both boys looked out the window. Gojo smirked—time for Mister Bug and Catnoir to appear.
Yuji: “Oh—! Look at the time! I have to leave school early for modeling! See you later or tomorrow, Megs!”
Yuji’s nickname for him, which he’s called for months, always makes Megumi’s heart skip. He shook his head to focus, but couldn’t stop stuttering.
Megumi: “Y-yeah! Se-See you!”
Yuji ran out of the classroom, and Gojo gathered the other students into the hallway before approaching the groups.
Gojo: “Hey kiddos~! May you all step out? I have to talk to Megumi privately for a moment!”
Gojo instructed the class to step out, allowing Tikki to transform. Megumi knew Gojo was giving him space, and Tikki smiled at her master.
Tikki: “It’s time to take care of another akumatized victim!”
Megumi: “I know. Let’s go.”
Megumi stood up, ready to transform. Meanwhile, Yuji found a quiet spot in the bathroom to transform. Plagg emerged from his shirt pocket, but he disliked transforming and preferred to be lazy.
Plagg: “Ughh… We really gotta do this?”
Yuji: “Of course! It’s not debatable, Plagg.”
Yuji smiled, it's time to be a hero, not a student.
