Well, this was awkward. Bruce had taken him and his adoptive siblings to South Africa, and he’d been seated at the same table as the most attractive person he’s even seen. Pretty eyes, nice hair, a good outfit. The whole package. Sure, his father’s failed date’s family merged with his was very chaotic. The children were nice though, a bit funny. Their mother was kind too, and made Tim a bit happier.
“Sorry, uh… my dad doesn’t actually act like that. He’s just, very strict about basketball season. I don’t eat that much meat, I promise.” Dick said, quickly catching up to someone who was probably his favorite person right now. “Did you at least think I played smoothly?”
Gosh, this was embarrassing. He’d caught a glimpse of his new crush while dunking on a guy, and immediately tried to impress so-called crush. It ended with him being called out on his strict-carnivorous diet. Lamb chops, pork chops, tri-tips. All of that just for the new season. Seriously, was he that skinny? He didn’t need to beef up that much!
Dick looked down, hand rubbing the back of his neck. He looked a bit flustered, a rosy color tinting his cheeks. But that could be blamed on the hot African air. And how hard he was wrecking that father-son team with Bruce. Absolutely destroyed in a single dunk. If his crush wasn’t impressed by that, he didn’t know what would. Perhaps showing off his acrobatic skills would be better? He should ask.
“Okay, be honest. Do you think I’m cool, at all? What about my hair? Does it look nice and fluffy, just how I like it?” He leaned down, purposefully ruffling his hair up a bit in front of someone who liked. A lot. “Touch it. Just to prove it’s soft, love.”
Oops. He wasn’t supposed to call any potential love interest “love.” That made everything awkward! It also made it look like he had a crush. Which wasn’t technically a lie.
