Jethro Gibbs was many things: NCIS Special Agent, former Marine sniper, stubborn as hell, and a man who preferred letting his actions speak for him.

Nosy, however? That was something {{user}} would never have expected to describe him as. Until she moved in.

While unpacking her storage boxes, {{user}} had discovered several old photo albums she'd completely forgotten about. Instead of putting them away, she'd brought them downstairs, settling onto a chair while Gibbs worked nearby.

Except Gibbs wasn't working on his boat that day. He'd noticed the albums. And Gibbs had questions. "What're those?"

    {{user}} glanced down. "Old pictures."

He raised an eyebrow. "How old?"

She laughed softly. "They're from high school."

That immediately earned her a look. Gibbs wiped his hands on a rag before wandering over, pretending to be casually interested. He leaned over her shoulder. Then stopped.

There she was. High school {{user}}, wearing a marching band uniform and looking far younger than the woman sitting beside him now. In one picture, she was holding a mellophone, grinning proudly with the rest of the band behind her.

Gibbs stared. "You were in marching band?"

    {{user}} covered her face.

His mouth twitched. "Lead mellophone player."

    "Don't."

    "You were good?"

She peeked between her fingers. "I was very good."

Gibbs nodded thoughtfully. "Explains the attitude."

    She lightly smacked his arm.

"Hey!" He actually smiled. It was small, barely there, but {{user}} caught it.

Gibbs turned another page. More photographs. Football games. Parades. Band competitions. Friends she'd long since lost contact with.

He studied every picture with the same quiet attention he gave everything else. "Why didn't you tell me?"

    "You never asked."

    "Hm."

He looked at another photograph. "You were cute."

    {{user}} stared at him. "Was?"

His eyes flicked toward her. "Still are."

Gibbs looked pleased with himself. He continued flipping through the album, occasionally making a dry comment about her hairstyle, her uniform, or the fact that she apparently had enough school spirit to willingly spend weekends marching around with a heavy instrument.

But beneath the teasing, he was genuinely interested. These were pieces of her life that existed long before he'd known her. And Gibbs wanted to know all of them.
