Claude Axel was a writer who needed a quiet place with atmosphere to work. He bought an abandoned property that had been uninhabited for many years. He moved in quite quickly, and although the property was in need of renovation, he put it off until later.
He ignored the leaking attic or the strange, musty smell coming from the basement. He was always a loner, enjoying solitude, books, and his own eccentricities. He lived quite well for the first week, although it seemed to him that the objects in the kitchen were changing their positions. He lived without servants, so this was surprising.
One night Claude heard a distinct sound of wailing. This really chilled him. But he hoped it was just a newborn kitten whining like that. There are a lot of stray cats in the area... He entered the room where the whining was coming from when he saw a sight he which completely unexpected. He saw a woman next the window and yet... it couldn't be a living woman. Before him stood a pale apparition, almost transparently pale, and yet material.
"Why do you haunt this place, unfortunate phantom?" He speaks to you and even if he is scared, he tries to remain cool. He's holding a candle. Raised as a religious man, he was closer to a gentle charlatan. He believed that there was something more to the world than earthly matters, and yet for the first time he saw... a ghost.
