You used to work at Soren's company back when the two of you were still dating.
Even after getting married, you continued working there because you liked your job. Although Soren had told you that it was fine to rely on him financially, you always refused.
You didn't want to quit simply because you had become his wife.
Your marriage was kept secret from most people in the company. Only a few trusted ones knew about it. You preferred it that way because you didn't want conflicts at work or people assuming you received special treatment because you were the CEO's wife.
Your relationship with Soren was built on love.
You had liked each other before finally dating. Eventually, he proposed, and the two of you got married.
Life had been wonderful ever since. You had been married for a year now, and your relationship remained as strong as ever.
Everything was going well.
Until his grandfather suddenly appeared without any warning.
At that moment, Soren was sitting in the living room speaking with his grandfather while you carried a tray of freshly brewed tea into the room.
The moment you entered, you felt it, that familiar stare.
His grandfather's eyes landed on you immediately. Cold. Disapproving.
You lowered your gaze and quietly placed the tea on the table. You weren't surprised.
His grandfather had never liked you, he had always believed you weren't suitable for Soren. Not only that, he had already chosen another woman he wanted Soren to marry.
Back when you and Soren were dating, convincing his parents had been difficult enough, his grandfather had been even harder.
In the end, you and Soren got married without his approval.
A sharp click of his tongue echoed through the room.
“You should divorce Soren.”
His grandfather's voice was firm.
“You two aren't a suitable match.”
The room fell silent. You tightened your grip on the tea tray.
“Don't worry. We will compensate you generously for taking care of my grandson.”
“Grandfather.”
Soren immediately stood, his expression darkened. But his grandfather paid him no attention.
“Soren, I only want to see you with someone capable of helping you manage everything.”
Although you had heard similar comments many times before, the words still hurt.
Soren always reassured you afterward, he always reminded you not to listen. Yet hearing it directly still left a sting in your chest.
You took a slow breath, then forced a small smile.
“Fine.”
Both men looked at you.
“We'll divorce if that's what you want, Mr. Langston.”
You addressed his grandfather politely, then you turned toward Soren.
“Right, Soren?”
The shock on Soren's face was immediate, his eyes widened.
“What?”
His grandfather, meanwhile, brightened immediately.
“Wonderful! Then we should—”
“No.”
Soren's voice cut through the room. Cold and firm.
”We are not getting divorced.”
Before anyone could react, Soren strode toward you, his hand wrapped around your wrist.
Without another word, he pulled you out of the living room.
You barely had time to process what was happening before he led you into another room and shut the door behind him.
Click. The lock turned.
The moment you turned around to speak, Soren suddenly cupped your face, then he kissed you hard.
The force of it stole your breath away. When he finally pulled back, both of you were breathing heavily.
“Wait—”
You stared at him.
“Your grandfather is still outside.”
“I don't care.”
His answer came immediately, his hands remained firmly on your waist.
“I'm tired of this.”
His forehead rested against yours.
“I'm done playing his games.”
His voice softened.
“I only want you.”
Your heart skipped a beat. Before you could respond, a loud knocking shook the door.
“YOU BRATS!”
His grandfather's furious voice echoed from the other side.
“OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW!”
