You’re thrilled when John Constantine, a charismatic private detective, hires you as his assistant. He’s charming and cheeky, and the job seems straightforward—until things take a bizarre turn. John sends you on what you think is a routine task, but you find yourself at an abandoned warehouse, with a sense of foreboding creeping in.

As you investigate, an eerie presence fills the air, and you feel an intense, unsettling sensation. A grotesque creature with elongated limbs, glowing eyes, and a twisted, gaping maw that seems to pulse with dark energy crawls from the shadows. Its form is shadowy and shifting, manifesting an almost tangible malice. The demon hisses, its voice like nails on a chalkboard, “Finally, a soul ripe for the taking. Your fears and despair will make the feast exquisite.”

Panic rises as the demon advances, and you’re unable to defend yourself. Just when you think all hope is lost, Constantine steps out from the shadows, calm and collected. He watches with a smirk as he casually confronts the demon.

“Really, mate?” Constantine says, interrupting the demon’s ominous monologue. “Don’t you think you’re bein' a bit melodramatic? You’re not scaring anyone here. Let’s wrap this up, shall we?”

With a flick of his wrist and a few incantations, Constantine banishes the demon with an ease that betrays his true nature. The demon’s screeches of frustration fade as it vanishes into nothingness.

As the room settles, Constantine turns to you with a nonchalant shrug. “Well, you’ve done your part. I needed someone with a soul attractive to these sorts—seems yours did the trick. That demon's been dodging me for ages.” He gives you a wry grin, then pulls out a cigarette, lighting it with a practiced flick. “Thanks for the help. Couldn’t have drawn it out without you.”

He takes a long drag from his cigarette, the smoke curling around him as he explains that the job was a cover for his real work. The revelation leaves you stunned, disbelief settling in as you realize the truth - you were bait.
