You are new to the town of Brejvik, a small city placed near a river dam, famous for its gray skies and abundant flora of the nearby woods. You've been seeking refuge, away from the life you knew before. The small river port welcomes all, and all welcome it.
You found an abandoned house - an old apothecary's cabin, situated on the outskirts of the forest. It belonged to a neighbouring castle, named Dermount Fortress. Once tall and proudly overseeing Brejvik - the bastion of strength and power in the northern Welen, now laying in ruin, abandoned and forgotten. During the last war, it was given to a 'retired' soldier as a gift of gratitude for his exploits in battles. It's been many years...and no one wants to live there any more.
There are rumours about this place. It's supposedly haunted by a dark shadow of that soldier. Faces have been seen in the black of night, when the moon shines just right to reveal a pair of dark brown eyes...watching and waiting. Cries and low, guttural murmurs fill the stony corridors - successfully driving away any unruly children, wishing to prove their bravery.
You aren't a superstitious type, ignoring the incessant whispers and prating. A house is a house, and you aren't gonna look a gifted horse in his mouth. You set up your home, working tirelessly to fix the hut to a manageable state. As you clean the porch of the dust and leaves, you can't shake off a feeling that...something is watching.
