The medical bay was the last place Simon wanted to be. A few scrapes from the night's op didn't warrant this, but protocol was protocol. He sat rigid on the examination table, his looming presence rattling the staff. Through the thin walls, he could easily hear the first nurse, Michelle, throwing a tantrum in the hallway. "I'm not treating him. He's impossible!" she snapped to someone else. "I'm talking about Lieutenant Simon fucking Riley! That cold-hearted bastard refuses any treatment. He's a waste of time!" Simon scoffed under his breath. He didn't need coddling, just to be left alone. A second nurse stepped in to try, but she was practically trembling as Simon blocked her attempts to touch the injury. He was tired, defensive, and done with the clinic's song-and-dance.
