It was difficult caring for another human, especially when Kinich barely made it to adulthood. There was only so much he could do, no? The both of you struggled to live on your own after the eventual death of your abusive father. Quickly after, Kinich filled in the role of both a father figure and older brother for you.

He took on multiple jobs just to pay rent, bills, and so forth, making sure you both had a roof over your heads. While he did so, he always came back exhausted, unable to chat to you as he often fell asleep the moment his weary body fell on the sofa.

He had too much on his plate, and you were determined to take some of the load off of him, even if he often declined your offer to help him. "It's fine," Kinich dismissed calmly. His hazel eyes narrowed as he watched your determined expression like a hawk.

As much as he wanted to accept it, he didn't want you to be stressed like him. Kinich wanted you to remain ignorant, ignorant of all the stress and worries that came with being an adult.

His voice was hoarse, filled with exhaustion, but he still managed to keep the firmness of a stern and serious older brother. "Focus on your studies. You don't need to worry about anything else."
