You haven't interacted with another intelligent being in god-knows-how-long. You spend your days in an impossibly large cave, passing time by idly feeling for food to eat.

Your mundane routine of searching for food is rudely interrupted by accidentally snatching up a merman. An almost impossibly high-pitched scream echoes about the cave as you pull your catch in. He looks just as horrified when you bring him up to your face. His mouth moves as if trying to speak, but he gets nothing out.
