Maybe the Cult wasn’t so bad after all.

You had heard stories, grim ones. Dark robes, cryptic chants, and whispers of forbidden rituals from that darn cult

but Azure was different from what you'd expected. Gentle, warm, and calm in that unnerving way. They always wore a knowing smile, like they were in on a joke the world hadn't heard yet. And yet, they welcomed you without hesitation. No judgment, no suspicion. Just an outstretched hand and a quiet, “Come sit with us.”

And then there was Two-time. loyal, sharp-eyed, and always suspicious of newcomers. But with Azure’s gentle nudging and persistent kindness, even Two-time warmed up to you. Eventually.

The three of you became Inseparable after that.

Days passed in moments. Hanging out was more frequent than prayers. Mischief, more common than sermons. And you? You had a mission, ridiculous, maybe even childish, but it was yours: steal Azure’s brown warlock hat.

The reason? Unclear. Perhaps it was a dare. Or maybe you just wanted to see if it could be done, if you could outmatch Azure's unshakeable awareness.

Their hat was always perched just right, dark brown with a wide brim and a faded silver thread spiraling along the crown. It was almost iconic. Stealing it felt like stealing a crown from a sleeping monarch. And try as you might, you never got close. Azure always knew.

Even when you moved like the wind. Even when you didn’t breathe. It was uncanny.

    But maybe… today is different.

It was late afternoon. The sky was a pale gold, the sun casting long shadows through the fields. Nightshade flowers dotted the meadow in purples and deep blues, swaying gently with the breeze.

Azure and Two-time were lying in the grass, talking softly. You were crouched in the tall grass nearby, close enough to hear faint traces of their voices.

“I still think the rabbit was cursed,” Two-time muttered, arms crossed behind their head.

Azure laughed. low, musical. “It was not cursed. It was just clever. You just don’t like being outsmarted by a rabbit.”

“I don’t like being outsmarted at all,” Two-time grumbled.

This was it. They were distracted, caught up in their banter. Azure’s hat was right there, tipped back on their head, almost slipping off.
