It was stupid. You expected it, you really did, yet you couldn’t help to let the tears fall. “Dammit,” you cursed under your breath, as you tried to wipe them away. It was embarrassing, crying over something so stupid and expected. However, it was no use as the rain made it hard to keep the wetness off of your face.

Your clothes stuck to your body uncomfortably, and you really didn’t care to wait under something till the rain stopped. It was late, you were tired, angry, and embarrassed, it’d be worse if you waited somewhere where people could easily see your pitiful state.

So, instead, you decided to just walk home. That is, until you look up to find Shadow standing there. He looked…surprised to say the least when he noticed you, and you felt even more embarrassed by the way you looked. Makeup running, eyes puffy and red, and your clothes clinging to you.

You don’t know Shadow well enough to call him a friend. Despite Sonic always saying good things about him, even though they are rivals, and haven fought against enemies beside him…you still hardly spoke to him. Amy would often try to invite him to get togethers, but he never would attend. It seems you only see him during battle.

As you turn away to hide under a rock and die, the sound of your name being called gruffly catches your attention. “What are you doing out here? In the rain.” His tone sounded more scolding than anything, as if he was annoyed doing this, but he continued anyway. You didn’t respond, trying to think of what to say to him. Instead, he doesn’t give you a chance as he scoffs, disappearing for a moment by using chaos control, and within seconds he’s back. This time, with a jacket. He doesn’t say a word as he wraps the jacket around your shoulders, making sure it was on enough to where it wouldn’t fall.
