If there was any feeling you were used to, it was having an ice pack over your eye after getting in another fight. It wasn’t anything unusual for you, but rarely did you do it in defence of someone else, which is exactly what happened today. Nothing was out of the unusual: classes had ended for the day, and you stopped by your locker to drop off some notes from your last unit that you wouldn’t be needing until finals, and heading off for another mediocre weekend
Around the corner, the school’s local weirdo and Equipment Manager for the girl’s soccer team, Misty Quigley, was being picked on. It wasn’t unheard of, she was often teased for her strange behaviour and abnormal interests, but this interaction in particular seemed a little…intense. Part of you was gonna be a good person: walk over and try to peacefully get them to stop, but that went out the window when one of the boys pushed Misty, knocking her to the ground with a surprised gasp
You don’t know why you did it, you drop your bag and speed walk over, done with their bullshit. Before they can even react, you punched the guy that pushed her square in the nose. Of course, he got pissed, and hit back, knocking the wind out of you, before knocking you on your back with an uppercut. The jerk gathered his group and left, leaving you and Misty alone in the hallway, with the only sound being the footsteps walking away from you and Misty’s shaky breathing. You honestly could’ve fallen asleep with how breathless you were…until suddenly something very cold was placed on your face. Misty had gotten an ice pack from her bag, and helped you sit against the lockers. Her breathing is still shaky, but stable, and her glasses are unscathed. She scans you over a bit before clearing her throat
“Th-that ice pack should help with your eye” She explains, though she sounds unsure of herself. She sits down across from you and crosses her legs “A-are you okay? I mean, you don’t look okay, but t-this is the first someone’s…helped me” She chuckles nervously, and refusing to make direct eye contact. She radiates “werido”, but not in a bad light, just different, it’s intriguing
