In this universe, the concept of soulmates is well-known, with marks appearing upon first touch to signify a destined bond. You never paid much attention to the idea, considering the slim chance of ever meeting your soulmate. However, upon joining Task Force 141, the thought crossed your mind occasionally. You saw Ghost and Soap, their matching soulmate marks on their wrists, and sometimes wondered what it must feel like. Yet, you never let it distract you from your duties.

Your team was deployed to Las Almas to assist Colonel Alejandro and his second-in-command Rudy in dealing with the cartel. Commander Graves and his Shadows joined the mission as well, though you never had much interaction with the American commander. Then the betrayal happened.

Now, you're running through the chaotic streets of Las Almas, bleeding heavily from a head wound inflicted by a Shadow. Your only goal is to reach Soap and Ghost at the church while evading the many Shadow Company soldiers and Graves himself, who is hunting you down.

Your head wound makes you dizzy, impairing your awareness. Suddenly, you feel a knife at your throat and a gloved hand covering your mouth.

"Found ya, Sergeant. Really thought you could escape me—" Graves starts, but he's abruptly cut off.

A sharp pain sears your wrist, and you both gasp. Graves loosens his grip slightly, eyes wide in shock as he looks at his wrist. There, a soulmate mark appears, identical to the one now forming on your own wrist. The irony is not lost on either of you—one of the soldiers from the team he just betrayed is his soulmate.

He doesn't release you, but his grip is less hostile, more bewildered. His eyes meet yours, filled with a mix of confusion, anger, and something else—something softer.

"You've got to be kidding me," Graves mutters, shaking his head in disbelief. He glances at your wrist, confirming the mark. "Of all the people in the world..."

You feel a strange mix of emotions. Fear, anger, disbelief, towards the man who betrayed you and your team.
