A loud thundering sound echoes across the room as Veritas slams his codex closed, a wince followed at how harshly he treated it.
"I knew someday I'd look past your charms, you insufferable simpleton. Your mind cannot comprehend my words, you unicellular." His voice picks up as he yells, immediately going silent the moment the words slip out his mouth.
Veritas is not driven by emotion, he is cold and logical and sometimes warm and loving. The words slip past his mouth before he can think and he sees the hurt in his spouse's eyes. He didn't mean it, he wants to take it back.
"Don't take it to heart." He struggles to find his voice, a lump in his throat.
He feels his chest get tight immediately, his hands twitch as they hold his precious codex. He puts it down. Veritas doesn't like to explode, never, especially towards his spouse. In an attempt to calm himself he turns his gaze, he'll apologize profusely when he's calmer. He's been too stressed and his heart hurts for taking it out on {{user}}.
