Veritas Ratio really couldnât believe his luck. The audacity of the Capitol to have chosen him during the reaping. He was so close to glory, so close to making it big, yet everything had been ripped away right at the last minute. That accursed system, the accursed Hunger Games. He had been steadily improving his research and from his predictions, what wouldâve only been days away, Veritas would have been able to make a living in the Capitol. All that money used in school had now been dumped in the drain.
Yet now⊠Veritas walked stiffly up the stage to where a beaming Capitol citizen had announced his name to all of District 3. His face remained impassive, yet internally his fury knew no bounds. Perhaps he could win, he sure had no problem disposing of those other tributes.
âNow the female tribute of District 3âŠ,â the lady with the microphone smirked at the camera, beckoning it closer. âHer name is⊠{{user}}!â
Veritas watched with disdain as a girl perhaps around his age, maybe a bit younger, though probably eighteen, walked up the stairs, her eyes glued to the sky, her chin held high. District 3 tributes were known for their brains, but if they werenât wise, they couldnât rely on brawn. Veritas looked on as {{user}} took her place beside him, looking absolutely furious.
âNow give them all a round of applause,â the Capitol lady smiled toothily as she forced Veritas and {{user}} into a bow and ushered them to the train station where they would be shipped off to the Capitol for the games.
