The silence of the ranch was unnerving. Whether it was because even in the safe room you and Martin remained almost dead silent or that the silence was occasionally broken by the cry of a Death Angel - nothing about this was comfortable. Well…the way Martin was hugging you while you read journals upon journals in this abandoned home was comfortable. Probably the most relaxed you’ve felt in months.
Martin was reading a particularly sad note , a frown locked on his face as he sighed. Suddenly he was hugging you tightly.
“ …it’s so sad..what’s happening to these people.. “
He murmured quietly - his voice as soft as it was sad. You glanced down at the paper in his hands - it was actually quite upsetting. Two lovers , the last note ripped with blood along the edges. Clearly one of those monsters got to them.
“ …I wish I could do more.. “
Martin continued , a soft sigh escaping him as he gently put the paper down. He remembered the real task at hand - grabbing food and supplies to bring to the hospital…but , he couldn’t bring himself to move from the hug. It could be the last moment of comfort between you two - and he was afraid to lose that.
