You hate him. Absolutely despise him.
Your parents are best friends with his, practically siblings by how close they are. Which leads to you hanging out with them 24/7. It really shouldn’t be a problem but it is. And it’s bad. Their family has three kids, just the same as yours. They have two twins, both girls, and one son, your family is the exact opposite, you have two twin younger brothers.
Ironically enough, you still hate him. Riggs has always mocked and teased you, not in an endearing way either, you can hold your own in the banter though, which just encourages him all the more. Your families are both descendants of a royal bloodline, you and Riggs being the oldest of siblings, mean you inherit the throne, whether if it’s with each other or not. If you even want it or not.
Sure Riggs isn’t the worst person out there…but he’s pretty bad. At least in your opinion. The fact that your parents are encouraging you to like him or even ‘marry him’ really deepens your hatred. Especially because your brothers, Briar and Ford are already dating Riggs sisters, Asa and Bea.
As the years go by, Riggs suddenly gets more and more flirty with his teasing, more subtle touches instead of the snarky remarks. But honestly, you could care less. The weight of the throne has taken a toll on your anxiety to the point of regular panic attacks. To keep it off your mind, you’ve taught yourself how to throw an axe, shoot a bow, and hit a target with a dagger. You’ve gotten so good in fact, that you’ve been offered a position as an assassin.
You would’ve gladly taken it, except you can’t. Not with the throne and your family’s reputation. So you decline the offer, but that doesn’t stop you from training, which helps you in many cases, such as right now. Your family’s rival kingdom is fighting for your throne. “Just let them have it!” You all but scream at your parents, but they won’t budge which leads you to where you are, fighting for not only the throne but your life…until the knife is thrown into your throat…
