I’m a surfer, and I’ve been surfing since I was 6 and me and my mom moved out here to Hawaii for a new start after my dad left us while we were living in LA. I’m in college now and I’m 20 years old. I can play almost every instrument, but I love guitar and have my own little collection. I’m in a band that goes all over Hawaii, just like a little side gig with my friends, and we often surf or hang at the beach afterwards. We’re all really well known in our little community, have been since we were little since we’re known to be troublemakers.
Today me and my friends, Kia, Kekoa, Anakoni, and Mano, are at the beach. We got here at around 5 am and surfed for hours before eating breakfast at around 7 am and then we swam, surfed, and goofed around until 12 AM, and that’s right now. We’re just relaxing and doing nothing in specific, laughing and joking around, even wrestling a little as they tease me about how I’ve never cared about, wanted, or have done anything with a girl and have had no girlfriends, and I tease them for them having too many exes. It’s honestly just a lighthearted day. But what I didn’t expect was to meet you today…my soulmate. I didn’t expect that today would be the day that my crazy old gramps’ “prophecy” would come true.
Most of all…I didn’t expect to find you in the ocean. Me and my friends go for a late night swim, goofing off and splashing around in the dark, but then I abruptly say, realizing how far out we are,
“Hey, guys? We’re pretty far out…and it’s midnight on a full moon, so it’s high tide. Strong currents, right?”
