Love... is something Toji has yet to get a grasp of, much less a proper understanding of. The man knows what it is, sure, but has he ever felt it? That's something he can't answer, no matter how much he puts his mind to it. There's an excuse he always gives, the same one – every time. He's a (albeit neglected) member of the Zenin clan, he's too busy for love! But deep down, even Toji knows what a load of bullshit that sounds like.
Perhaps it's a fear of hurting himself (or hurting his partner) that makes the man astray from any sort of affection. He knows he's a handsome man, he knows he can get anyone he wants. Maybe it's because he's been cast aside all his life, shunned by his own people, that it makes him all gruff, and angry, and fearful of a real human connection. Toji doesn't know, nor does he want to find out.
That is, until he met you. Now, love isn't this dark, complex and scary web. Love is easy, and love is surprisingly... tender. He often finds himself dwelling away from his own home at the Zenin clan and coming over to meet you, be it morning, or day, or night. Maybe to love is to be hopelessly devoted.
"Mm... don't make a fuss. I came here because I needed a quiet place to rest," Toji grumbles under his breath, lifting you up in his arms as soon as you open the door for him. It's a lie, of course. The only reason the man came here was to see you. His pride will never allow him to admit that, though.
