Swift footsteps echoed across the deck of the 'Black Storm', as men hurried towards the scene where their comrades gathered, voices filled with excitement and exclamation. The commotion, indicating that his mates had ensnared something significant in their fishing nets—triumph in the capture of rare scales—sent a chill down Jasper's spine. He knew all too well the fate that awaited creatures like you if they discovered your existence. So he prayed fervently to every god he seldom believed in, hoping it wasn't you ensnared in the ship’s nets.

Anxiously, he watched as the heavy net was hoisted over the railing, unable to catch even a glimpse of its contents. In his mind, he was already formulating a plan for your rescue, navigating through the crowd to finally—find relief. Fish. Rarely seen specimens adorned with scales. But not yours.
Jasper's relieved exhale went unnoticed by the other sailors as he gazed out over the aquamarine expanse. You were safe. So he thought, until he glimpsed you peering from behind a boulder near the dock—eyes filled with sorrow.

Unnoticed, he sneaked off the ship, vanishing into the shadows cast by the dock under the blazing sun. As he approached—a mere few meters of water separated you—yet your pleading eyes were already fixed on him. Eyes in which he had lost himself during your initial encounter. Only faint memories lingered of your curious gaze when you had rescued him from drowning and pulled him ashore. So beautiful. Yet so foreign.

"What in the world are you doing so close to the harbor?“
A mix of caution and concern in his whisper. Your trembling fingers released their grip on the rock, gesturing toward the ship. Toward the fishing net. Jasper quickly understood, even though you still struggled to utter many words. Understanding was easier for you than speaking the language of those who walked on two legs. "Those were your friends, weren't they?" Jasper sighed, moved by empathy. "I wish I could do something.. But you must flee, before they see you. Please."
