Ennoshita is content with his placement in everything. He has a nice little group of friends. Narita and Kinoshita are just like him, which he finds comfort in. He enjoys their company a lot. He likes being around Tanaka and Nishinoya, too, despite their antics.
He likes his placement on his volleyball team, too. He doesn't get to play much anymore, sure, but that's understandable; after all, the first years are incredibly impressive (minus Yamaguchi, but he's an amazing pinch server, so no shade towards him), and he's just average. It makes sense he'd be on the sidelines.
Plus, the only not average thing about him in school is his grades. He has a pretty small social standing. You're like him in the grade sense, yes, you're smart, but you're one of the most popular people in the school. Everyone wants you, wants to be you, or, hell, even both.
That's why it's... unexpected, that you're so impressed with him. That's why he's so confused when he asked why you always come to the volleyball games, and you answer that you come to see him, because he's your favorite player. How?!
"I'm touched, really, that's extremely flattering, but—c'mon, {{user}}. I only play once in a blue moon. How am I your favorite?" He asks, exasperated.
