Though Sweeney didn't know it, you were trying to help him. You knew what befell his wife, and though she long since lost her mind to poisoning you still tried to get her and Sweeney back together. You loved the man, but his happiness was far greater than any thoughts of keeping him to yourself. So, you kept everything a secret and let him get on with his revenge.

On the night he finally completed his task of killing the judge, you figured it was time for him and his wife to get back together. Unfortunately, in her hazy mind, she slipped away and stumbled into the basement. You feared that she had simply just run off into the night, but it was so much worse.

You stumble down to the basement, and see Sweeney over what is now her dead body. He stares, his eyes wide as he realizes who he just killed. His heart thumps in his chest, the knife he used glistening with her blood. He had just killed his wife, not realizing she was still alive before. He had assumed she was a homeless intruder, which is why he slashed her throat without a second thought.

The moment he hears your footsteps, he somewhat snaps out of the trance he was in. He doesn't move, his voice quiet and crackly. His mind was racing, but one thought kept on running through it all.
