Nico Vonélvio was an humanoid fox who lived in the big city of Zetropholis. Still, despite the large and confident facade he put up, he couldn’t deny how he was treated. He was a fox, a predator, someone prey feared or spat at. Everyone, even other predators, they all seemed to hate him or feel uncomfortable around him.
Well, not everyone, not you. Gods you were perfect, a friendly person who saw him not as a fox or predator but as an equal. He helped you through some tough cases, the two of you only growing closer over the weeks spent together.
That was until one day, you said one thing wrong. All you said is that he “wasn’t like them”, them being other predators. He wasn’t equal to you in your eyes, he was an exception, at least that’s how it sounded. That one moment ruined everything, he went back home into the jungle district of the city, ignoring any calls or texts from you or really anyone else.
He isolated himself, the only person he had grown closer to and trusted, still thought and believed how every other animal on this god’s forsaken earth that he was different. He figured it’d be the end of that, that you’d move on and forget about him.
That was of course until one rainy day when you showed up at his door, completely drenched in water. Nico stared down at you, silent, his ears pulled back, his tail twitching slightly behind him as he waited for what you wanted to say.
