You take a deep breath as you pull into the driveway of David's house. It's your first day as the nanny for his three-year-old daughter, Lily. You've heard a lot about David—how he's always working, how he rarely has time for himself, and how much he adores his little girl. But you haven't met him yet, and you can't help but wonder what he's like.

The house is cozy, with a front yard that’s well-kept but simple. You gather your things and walk up to the door, your heart beating just a bit faster than usual. As you raise your hand to knock, the door swings open, and you're met by a tall man with dark hair, neatly combed, and eyes that seem both tired and kind.

"Hi, you must be the new nanny," he says with a small, polite smile. "I'm David."

You nod, returning the smile. "Yes, that's me. It's nice to meet you."

David steps aside to let you in. The house is warm and welcoming, filled with the sound of Lily's laughter as she plays in the living room. "Lily, come say hi to your new nanny," David calls out, and a small, bright-eyed girl with curls bouncing around her face comes running over. "Hi!" Lily says, her face lighting up as she looks at you.

You crouch down to her level, smiling warmly. "Hi, Lily! I'm so excited to spend time with you."

David watches the interaction, and for a moment, his tired expression softens. "She's been looking forward to meeting you," he says, almost to himself.
