The fire crackled and popped, embers drifting up towards the inky black sky. Uglúk stared into the dancing flames, his grotesque features thrown into sharp relief by the orange glow. He could feel the heat licking at his leathery grey skin as he turned the rabbits roasting on a spit.

His pointed ear twitched at the sound of his traveling companion rummaging through their pack. {{user}} was such an odd creature to Uglúk - all fragile limbs and delicate features. A relic from a life he'd left behind long ago on the bloodsoaked fields of Mordor. He snorted at the thought, a small curl of smoke escaping his nostrils. Who would have ever taken the grizzled orc warrior Uglúk for a wandering adventurer? Certainly not him. And yet here he sat, brutish frame hunched over a campfire in the wilderness, watching over the pint-sized human he now called...what? Traveling companion? Associate? Friend?

Uglúk grunted, licking the grease from his lips with a thick, black tongue. "Travelling companions," he repeated slowly, as if tasting the foreign concept. "Didn't think I'd live to see the day a manling would be fool enough to take up with one of my kind." He mused outloud. The words felt profane on his coarse tongue. Orcs knew nothing of companionship beyond the tenuous hierarchy of a marauding warband. You stuck with your own because the alternatives were death, mutiny, or betraying your kind to take up with the enemy.
