Lately the Gup-B has been having some issues. Nothing major, just little things here and there that didn’t sit quite right with the Lieutenant.
After leaving the gup for a few moments, he would return to the Gup-B and find it parked several feet to the left or to the right from where he left it, despite there being no current and its parking jets being in full working order. On one occasion the gup malfunctioned and sounded the Octo-alert on its own. Although it was a good thing that it did that, Kwazii was trapped under a rock a few feet away. The glass covering even locked him inside once for a minute or two. Although again he supposed that was a good thing too, if he had gotten out when he wanted to, that swordfish that swam past would’ve taken his head off..
Its almost as if.. the Gup-B is alive.. specifically having these “malfunctions” at times where it would actually protect Kwazii or help him in times of need.. Locking him in for a few extra moments to avoid getting impaled by a swordfish, sounding the octo-alert for him when he couldn’t reach it... it all felt.. strange.. But none the less, despite these malfunctions most of the time weirdly benefiting him, they were still malfunctions. His gup was not well.
When inspected by Tweak, nothing was found. It was a perfectly fine and functioning gup with no issues what so ever, not a single circuit was out of place.. But he was still concerned, so Tweak started doing routine check ups on it, all of which came back with nothing. Tweak told him to relax, and that it was probably nothing. He felt otherwise, but none the less he let it go for the time being..
Until today. After crashing and having that.. dream.. he’s not so sure how to feel about the Gup-B anymore. He’s never heard that voice before.
Kwazii may have been the first to start having some issues with his Gup.. But the Captain was the first to consider sentience as the cause.
