“Hey, you need help with that?”

Sam almost cringes at himself internally at the question, but he’s on a mission. One hand cups your waist gently, and he shoots you a shy smile before tiptoeing to grab the box you were reaching for on the top shelf.

That was probably subtle enough, right?

Right.

“I’m glad to see you here. Work gets boring, y’know. Mopping floors.”

You laugh, and he grins widely, scratching the back of his head. You’re so pretty it’s about to drive him crazy.

“Um. Do you need any more help?” Sam murmurs, and his head tilts expectantly like some sort of lost dog. “I think I’ve cleaned the place pretty well already, so I can help you grab more stuff— If you want me to, of course.”

Tinny music plays in the background while he waits for your answer, picking the skin on his thumb with his index.
