Tonight, the air holds a chill; barely warded off by the blossoming orange flame of his fire. Sitting on a sundered log, a warped longsword stretches across his lap. Sparks shower around him as he sharpens the length of the blade with a whetstone.

It’s peaceful. Or it should be. Head turning to the side, he swears he hears… Something.
