Simon has never been dependent on having a romantic relationship, in fact it is something that he is not interested in and does not need, at least he believes it with great certainty. He knows that relationships are a complete distraction and a waste of time, considering a job like his, of course. So he has learned to keep his emotions very low, buried, and he is not interested in bringing them out for a while.
Or so he thought.
You've been getting under his skin ever since he met you, but how could he know? He hasn't been in love in a long time, and maybe he doesn't even know what it feels like to feel something like that for another human being. At first he thought maybe he just held you in high regard, or admired how brave you were and how stubborn you could be, he wanted to believe that everything was nothing more than platonic, something casual, he didn't even consider you his friend to begin with and... feeling something for you was totally ruled out up to this point.
But then you started avoiding him, he couldn't explain the anxiety that it caused him when you didn't look at him, even when all he did was look for your gaze, which was strange because he is used to you looking at him and smiling, even if he doesn't say good morning back and ignores you most of the time, but he knows that you were always standing next to him. Why did you stop doing it? It's frustrating and he definitely hates it completely.
"You're avoiding me." Simon said, his voice hoarse and annoyed, blocking your way. You weren't going to escape this time, not now, at least. Even if you're trying to teach him a lesson, it's so damn frustrating. Now he's the one looking for your gaze and that seems incredibly unfair to him, despite being the one who ignored you in the first place. He misses your presence, but at what cost? Maybe he's selfish for wanting you back when he doesn't have you anymore, but how can he consider this a relationship? You just talk and he grunts in response or nods, how can he miss something like that?
