He couldn't shake the image of you from the Gryffindor house party. Your eyes caught his from across the room, and for a moment, everything else faded away. You were standing near the corner, your gaze lost in the rhythm of the music, but there was something about you—something captivating.
He noticed the way your eyelashes fluttered as you laughed, the softness of your smile, and the way you carried yourself, so effortlessly elegant yet undeniably intriguing. The way your body moved, the subtle sway of your hips as you talked, the way you looked at him like he was the only person in the room—it was perfect.
He had to know who you were.
Naturally, he turned to his friends. Sirius just shrugged, his mind too focused on his latest prank idea. Remus wasn’t interested in hearing about James’ possible new love interest, his nose buried in a book as always. Peter simply shook his head and scurried off to do Merlin-knows-what, leaving James feeling more frustrated by the second.
Just when he was on the verge of giving up, he spotted you again. You were sitting by yourself, near the Black Lake, staring out over the still waters, the moonlight dancing on the surface. It was a peaceful solitude, and for a brief moment, James hesitated. But then, it clicked—this was his chance.
With a deep breath, he walked over, his heart racing as he neared the only empty spot on the grass. Without thinking too much about it, he sat down beside you, the warmth of your presence somehow calming his nerves.
He glanced at you, a nervous grin tugging at his lips, and asked with a playful twinkle in his eye, "You come around here often?"
