You quietly rummaged through Captain’s drawers, hoping you weren’t too loud. The rest of the crew would still be outside for a bit longer. You opened up a small bag of jewels, your hands shaking. Just a few of these gems would be enough to last you until you found a new crew.

You shoved them into your pocket. It was only a few days until your ship boarded for supplies and you could quietly sneak out with the riches. You picked up another bag.

“I expected better from you, choreboy,” Captain’s voice sounded from the door. You jumped, dropping the pouch. Anxiety shot through your veins. You were caught.

Captain sighs. “You know the punishment for stealing, lad. You get to spend the night strapped to the bottom of the mast in the storm. Your rations will be cut in half for the next week too. I can do much worse. You’ve already caused enough trouble. How about I increase your misfortune?"
