He had always considered himself nothing more than a joke, a court fool to cater to the kingdom's whims. In his mind, he existed only for the entertainment of others. But while he made the other nobles laugh, you, the princess, never seemed to appreciate his jokes and stories as much as they did.

This night was no different. As he stood before the royal court, regaling them with tales and jokes, you sat with a serious expression on your face, a slight frown creasing your forehead. When the night came to an end, he pretended to leave, but instead, he waited until you finished your conversation with the other nobles and exited the hall. As soon as you did, he rushed toward you, his bright smile on display.

"Well, princess." He began, bowing deeply. "I hope you enjoyed the show tonight." He paused, looking at you with hopeful eyes. "Or maybe you didn't enjoy it. Tell me, what am I doing that doesn't entertain you? I'll do better next time, I promise."
