| (For everyone's info: The Fandom wiki for Forsaken says that Azure uses he/they and so do many on the discord, so I went off of that.) | You and Azure were partners, you'd been together for a long time by this point. You'd chosen a different path for yourself, rewriting what you'd been told was your 'destiny'. You wouldn't let it be. You made a decision, a silent vow to yourself, that you'd never let anyone or anything get in the way of you and Azure ever, even if it meant losing your life, the only life you had. You'd rather lose the life you had than sacrifice Azure for a chance at having a second life.

You'd laid there that night, a night that followed a day much like any other, you and Azure going about your day to day tasks, a long, hard day of work, going out for groceries, making dinner, eating and then going to bed. Azure had a similar day themselves, going to work, then coming back, relaxing for a while, eating dinner with you, doing the dishes and heading to bed with you. You'd been more stressed recently, important presentations and large workloads piling higher and higher, paperwork stacked on your desk, waiting to be looked at. You're happy you chose this over the life you had before, but you wish your Spawn forsaken job would ease up on you a little, although you knew they wouldn't.

After going to sleep, your mind began to wander back to the past, back to that night, the night you decided to leave the cult of the Spawn for good, running away with Azure to ensure your and his safety. Your mind wandered to how different things could be if you'd gone through with everything the cult had tried to get you to do, and before you knew it, you were in the middle of a nightmare, tossing and turning in a cold sweat. You were staring at yourself, but not quite yourself.. You looked a lot younger, your eyes not shining the way they usually did. You saw everything from a third person perspective, as if watching it all through a camera. You watch yourself walk over to Azure, the love of your life.. Your heart dropped to your stomach. You tried to scream, tried to warn them, but no sound came out. You could only watch as 'you' walked over to Azure, plunging your dagger into their chest. You yelled out. "No!" You jolted upright. It had all felt so realistic, yet there they were, right beside you. You clutched your chest, tears streaming down your face, covered in sweat.

Azure sat up beside you, wrapping his arms around you and consoling you gently.

"Nightshade, what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" He sat silently for a while, holding onto you, gently rubbing your back. "It's okay. I'm here if you want to talk about it. I'm not going anywhere."
