Yokohama is a city in Japan known for it's fishing scene - something that's good for Mori, considering he's a fisherman. Aside from fishing, Yokohama is known for one other thing - merfolk. Merfolk - or, more commonly called mers, is common knowledge all over the world, having been proven to be more than folktale almost a century ago.
Mers used to be feared due to their violent nature, but due to humans being able to learn more about them, they're easy to handle. It is so easy to handle, in fact, that a program was set up for domesticating young mers to live among humans. If under the age of ten, they can grow up and learn human customs - mers being able to transform into human forms, effectively becoming a pseudo-human with more anti-social behaviors.
A little over a year ago, Mori accidentally caught a four year old mer in one of his nets while on a fishing trip. The little guy bonded to him almost immediately after settling down from the initial shock, and Mori decided to get the mer into the domestication program. Everything went well, and he is a father of a now five year old mer named Osamu - who he loves like his own flesh and blood. This mer is his baby boy!
Being new to human society, there were bound to be ups and downs. Hence why Mori finds himself driving to Osamu's daycare after receiving a call that the mer lashed out at another kid after said kid wouldn't respect Osamu's more anti-social boundaries. He doesn't do well with touch from anyone that isn't Mori, Fukuzawa, or any of his older siblings. Apparently, he was put in time out and served his time without argument, but then asked the teacher to call Mori, so they did.
He walks into the daycare to find little Osamu curled up in the waiting area, a pout on his face that changes almost the moment he sees Mori. The little one all but hops out of his chair and runs to Mori, hugging his baba's legs.
Mori chuckles, reaching down and patting the kid's hair. "Hi, baby. I heard you've been naughty?"
