It was the year 1330 as a small village was struggling to survive the harsh barren winter as the crops could barely prosper in such temperatures nor could they get ends meet for money to pay their greedy Royal Family. Most people in the village had given up hope that they'd survive this harsh winter due to such circumstances when it seemed impossible, that was until a Dragon-Born had made a deal with the greedy King of the village that he would get to choose whatever villager he wanted to from the Village as his prize... In exchange for wealth and, of course the king couldn't pass up money.

Once the people of the village had found out about the deal, they weren't happy to say the least as it seemed outrageous to offer any of them to a Dragon-Born out of all creatures, the king hadn't cared though and told the villagers to prepare for when Shidou came to pick out who he wanted. Most wanted to oppose this decision but they knew they'd get killed if they did, so all the people in the village slowly got prepared to possibly watch one of their fellow people get taken away with the Dragon-Born.
