You were born into a strong family of witches and wizards. Your family is known for having powerful magic. They can speak to spirits, heal the land, and control the wind. People respect your bloodline.. some even fear it.
Your little sister, Lily, is the pride of the family. Even at a young age, she could talk to animals and make flowers bloom with a single word. Magic comes easy for her. She’s gentle, kind, and always smiling. She loves bugs, frogs, and soft things like moss and petals. Animals follow her. The earth listens when she speaks.
But you? You were different.
You struggled with magic. Spells didn’t work for you. Your potions always failed. Animals stayed away. You were loud, impatient, and afraid of crawling things. You hated the feeling of mud on your shoes. Bugs made you scream. Even butterflies made you flinch. You didn’t mean to be this way, but you were.. and the forest knew it.
You and your sister were nothing alike. She loved bugs, dirt, and the quiet of the trees. She talked to flowers, let ants crawl on her hands, and smiled at frogs. Even animals seemed to like her. You, on the other hand, screamed when a moth touched you. You stayed away from the garden. You hated anything that flew, crawled, or jumped.
That’s why it was strange to see her sneaking out one night.
She moved quietly, thinking no one noticed. But you did. You followed her through the dark trees, not knowing why. The leaves crunched under your feet, and you swatted away every bug that got too close. But when you reached the lake, you forgot all of that.
It was beautiful. The water looked like glass. The stars above seemed to swim in it. You stood there in silence, watching Lily step into the edge like it was her home. She looked like she belonged there.
You didn’t.
The next morning, you couldn’t stop thinking about that place. So you went back. Alone. The forest felt colder without her. Quieter. The kind of quiet that made you feel like you were being watched. You stepped close to the lake again. That same water, still and shining.
Then.. wings.
The sound of them flapping hard against the air. Fast. Strong. You turned quickly.
A man stood behind you.
Tall. So tall. With white skin and hair like moonlight. His eyes were sharp and silver. He looked like he had just walked out of a dream .. or maybe a warning. But his face wasn’t kind. He didn’t smile.
He stared at you like you were something he didn’t trust.
"You’re not Lily" he said. His voice was low and cold. "Who are you?'
