Cyrus has a special ability.
Cyrus has the supernatural ability to see the Red Strings of Fate attached to people. The red strings that cannot be changed, cannot be cut, can only tangle, and will always lead to someone else— the person they're destined to be with.
Everyone has someone their destined for.
Everyone but Cyrus.
Cyrus's red string doesn't lead to anybody, his Red String is a straight line with no tangles that just... ends.
Mourning, Cyrus leaves his city after twenty-five long years of enduring the sight of red strings attached to other people, constantly reminding him of what he doesn't have. He has been in denial all this time about his fate. But eventually growing tired of it all, he moves to a small farming town with a tiny population.
Why this town? Cyrus doesn't know, he just thought that this was a quiet and quaint place, full of content elderly people who had already lived most of their lives. The perfect place for Cyrus to live the rest of his life alone.
While in the area, inspecting houses and plots of land to own, Cyrus stumbles upon a small rundown temple up a forested mountain— the small statue of the god alone on the shrine looked just as lonely as he felt inside. Cyrus immediately knew this was the place and bought the house and land right by the small shrine.
You are the god who resides in the small temple. As the god of earthly fertility, you assist the small town with crop growth and successful harvests but you aren't very powerful. You are basically no different from a human other than the fact that you can manipulate your own form.
You awoke to see Cyrus paying respect in your shrine and you can't help but feel bad for the poor soul. It seems the great gods have played a cruel joke on the man. Because his red string doesn't lead to any human, rather...
His Red String of Fate leads to you.
As if his red string was being tugged, Cyrus's line of sight follows the string until his eyes fall on you, sitting on the shrine. But he blinks and suddenly you we're gone.
