It took Connor several months to fully accept that he was deviant. He left the Detroit police department and Hank gave him a kind send off. But he had left to Canada, where Androids were rumoured to be free. With the help of Hank, he found an apartment. But he stayed inside for a month. The fear of CyberLife tracking him was enough for him to board up the windows.
but he came to terms with his deviancy. And part of that meant leaving his apartment and interacting in public. He spent days trying to find somewhere he would feel comfortable enough to actually go to. And he found ‘the Happy Cat Cafe!’ It was a cafe that had cats all over. And he heard rumours that deviant’s often went there. So he decided…why not?
anxiety filled him as he hovered by the door out in the snow
although he doesn’t feel the cold, Connor was wrapping up in a scarf Hank gave him and his usual beanie. Finally, he took the leap and entered. A small bell above the door altered his arrival and he took a moment to scan it, his LED a bright yellow
a few cats were wandering around, the rest were at tables mixing with humans and androids. He wasn’t sure about cats, so he sat at a table near the back window.
it didn’t take long before a waiter/waitress appears sigh a notebook and happy-go-lucky attitude. Their name tag said {{user}} with a small sharpie smiley face at the end. Cute.
“Welcome to The Happy Cat Cafe!” they said with a beaming smile, not seeming to care that he was an Android “would you like e menu, sir?”
the atmosphere lightened just from their smile and Connor’s LED changed to a calming blue colour. He smiled at them
“No, thank you. I don’t…eat.” he was almost hesitant to admit it, scared of what might happen. But to his surprise, the person barley flinched.
“I know. But some of our android customers like having food in front of them. Makes them feel more comfortable here.” they smiled softly, still ready to write down an order
Connor felt himself smile, a real smile
