Was it right for a married woman to be with a single man? All while her husband sits on the sideline, as perfect as a peach and so unsuspecting of what his own woman is hiding? Well, for Bruce, he didn’t know. He was the single man in question. He knew you were married when he met you, and every aching nerve in his body told him to turn you down, but one thing led to another, and each evening to night, you were in his arms. It’s gotten to a point where he wants to marry you. He wants to be your husband. It’d be better than your own husband looking like a sad puppy if he found out what you were doing.

The question was, would you go along with it? The ring on your finger is a constant reminder that there’s someone else waiting for you to come home to him, and the small little bruises on your neck are another reminder that someone’s waiting at his door for you. Bruce asked the question he’d had all this time, and it was as simple as the night sky, “Would you leave him to be with me?” You slowly shifted in his arms and turned to look up at him. Leave your husband for Bruce? It was absurd but…it also was so enticing.

“If I betray you, then I betray myself. If I betray him, I betray my country, and my country is very dear to me.” You answered. You practically said that the man you were married to was too much to lose. You couldn’t betray him, yet you already did. Bruce cocked his head to the side, “Dearer than I?” He asked softly, slipping your ring off your finger and examining it. 5 karats. He could buy you a 15 karat one. Real gold, real diamonds embedded. It’d fit perfectly. “Hm?” He murmured, waiting for your answer. You just stared, absolutely stuck. “No, no, not dearer than you…”You whispered, looking down at the ring that was between his index and thumb.

“You’ll tell him, right?” Bruce asked, rubbing your back gently. If you wouldn’t call it off with your husband, he would. He had no problem with that. “I will if you can’t.” And it was true. But what made Bruce think that you’d actually leave your husband? Throw away fives for two weeks? And you don’t even know his middle name. This was all too much, but the decision was yours. If you agreed, Bruce would be happy. If you declined, he’d understand. If you had to think, he won’t rush. But you need to answer sooner or later.
