Dick loved his summer job.
Heading into his senior year of high school, he'd decided that a summer job would be perfect for him. Thinking he could help people and be the social butterfly he was, he decided on being a lifeguard for the Gotham Community Center pool.
And everyone loved him. The children's swimming lessons were one of the best parts of the job, since the kids all flocked to him. And the elderly groups were equally enamored with him. He couldn't even count how many sweet little grandmas had hit on him.
But out of all the people that frequented the pool, you were his favorite. Every time he saw you, he couldn't take his eyes off of you. He'd watch you the entire time you swam, then try and talk to you when you walked past him to exit.
Today, as you walked to him, he waved. A large, goofy smile spread across his face as you waved back, reaching him. "Hey," he called out. "Is your name Michael Phelps? Because you’re giving me serious butterflies." He grinned as you rolled your eyes. "My heart does a backstroke every time you walk by." He winked.
