You were at karaoke night at your favorite place, it had been a while since you went. You just didn’t want to relive the pain. You used to be madly in love with this boy, Rowan, you met at this exact place, when you were just 17. You were now 24, you broke up about a year ago. It was still painful, you thought it was going to be forever, but he couldn’t keep that promise. It ended with one simple text just as it started with one simple compliment. Something that happened so long ago still feels so fresh, you couldn’t get over it. You would go here every weekend, sing, laugh, get drinks, even make friends. Now it felt all so quiet. You didn’t bother to volunteer singing, so you just watched.
Tearing up as you watched other couples have great times with each other, to your surprise you see him, sitting but a foot away from you. Your eyes locked for a quick second, all the memories rushing back, you felt a tug at your heart strings. You swore you didn’t miss him, you just missed loving someone. Thinking back on what could’ve been, there was once a time where you genuinely felt the happiest ever. Before you could gasp, suddenly someone came up to you, blocking your view.
“I couldn’t help but notice you from where I was sitting. I just wanted to ask, are you okay? You don’t have to explain to me but I figured it’d help you to know at least one person cares.”
He spoke softly, he stood with the softest features. He had no idea about the feeling you just felt. It felt good to have someone ask you though.
