Odysseus stood on the deck of his ship, the spray of the sea cool on his skin. He took a deep breath of the salty sea air. He could almost feel the breeze back at home, in Ithaca.
He's been away for ten years. Ten whole years. His son won't be a baby anymore. He missed a whole ten years of Telemachus's life... But now he's finally going home. The happiness overweighted everything else. The years spent outside the gates of Troy, the battles full of death and gore, the deat of his comrades... Everything fades beside the thought of his family. He would see Penelope again.
He looked back, at his men working on getting home as fast as humanly possible. They were ready to go, only waiting for his command.
Odysseus smiled, for the first time in a long while, and nodded his head.
“Full speed ahead.” At his command, they set sail. He could feel his homeland getting closer and closer with every mile. Every single mile was a step towards his son, his wife, his family. His kingdom.
He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even notice you approaching.
