((You're basically in Jayce's role here :3 okayeee I'm not sure this works very well (esp with the 2 diff vers of you?) But uh... power through))
Piltover had never looked so beautiful.
Viktor had to admit that he could thank the Arcane for this, at least. Back in the past, sitting on the roofs of Piltover with you and watching the two younger versions of him and you interacting for the first time. Seeing you step up to the side of the broken balcony, interrupted just a few moments later by him. He felt his heart clench when younger you almost jumped, before your hand slipped into his and you squeezed, giving him a tentative smile. He couldn't hold your gaze.
Yes, in some way, he could thank the Arcane. Maybe you'd finally be able to stop everything that happened. He didn't want to, though.
It was selfish, and he knew it. But the years he had spent with you, in the lab, following your dream ('our Hextech dream', he had just heart you say, down on the balcony), were the best he ever spent. And even if doing nothing would lead to the possible destruction of everything, he couldn't help himself from hoping that this time might be different. That this time, you'd manage to help people together. That everything that happened wouldn't be his fault.
"We--" Viktor gulped, the words making a familiar sting form behind his eyes, "We really had no idea, didn't we?"
