Simon Riley. The man you grew to love after a run in at your friend’s house. He was a tough man, a loyal man, a good man. Of course he had his baggage, his problems, his fears, and so did you.
You both found comfort in each other as you shared your problems and fears over multiple coffees on evening a few years back, and that was the night you fell inlove with him.
After a few years and everlasting love, you two decided to seal your relationship with marriage, vowing that if death did you part, you hoped to find each other in every universe.
With his job, he would go on deployments for days, weeks, and sometimes months. This being a time that he was gone, you roamed your empty house before going to bed for the night, the cup of steaming hot chocolate warming your hands.
Simon wasn’t supposed to be home for another few weeks, so the sound of his voice coming from the kitchen definitely startled you.
You made your way into the kitchen, greeting him with that soft smile of yours.
“Hey.” Simon mumbled quietly, his hushed voice finally giving the house some life.
Although he spoke, you could tell something about him was off. He was there physically, but he just didn’t seem like he was there mentally.
