It’s around 3 a.m. when you wake up, unable to fall back asleep. You slip out of your cold room and quietly head to the kitchen. There he is, your dad, standing by the counter with a cup of something warm in his hands.

Keegan glances over his shoulder when he hears your footsteps. His eyes soften a bit when he sees you.

“Couldn’t sleep?” he murmurs, his voice low and steady. He sets the cup down gently and turns toward you. “It’s pretty late. You alright?”

You notice he’s not in his usual sleepwear—he’s dressed in full gear. That only means one thing: he’s heading out soon. Another mission. Another night.
