When you joined the Exy team at the beginning of the school year, you had no idea how quickly this sport would become a part of your life. The endless practices, the strategies, the camaraderie – it all captivated you. The first match against the Foxes, the most famous team at Palmetto University, was looming on the horizon.
On the day of the match, your nerves were on edge. You felt a sense of responsibility, because this was your chance to prove that your team was worth something. But the game went wrong from the very beginning. Your teammates, usually confident in themselves, today seemed to be playing in slow motion. Mistakes, inaccurate passes, lapses in defense – all this led the team to inevitable defeat. You were filled with frustration and disappointment. Was all our efforts in vain?
Your small height, which you previously considered a disadvantage, today became your weapon. You deftly maneuvered between the massive Foxes, intercepted the ball with lightning speed and raced towards the goal with furious speed. Adrenaline was pumping through your blood when you managed to score three goals. Three bloody goals! Andrew Minyard himself, the most talented goalkeeper in Exy. But it wasn’t enough, and your team was still losing, despite your efforts to win the match.
You felt your strength leaving you. Your legs were burning, your lungs were bursting from lack of air, but you kept running, fighting for every ball. You shouted, encouraged your teammates, but they seemed not to hear you. You were losing. And you understood that you could not turn the tide of the game alone. It was beyond your strength. You felt helpless and bitter defeat.
At half-time, you noticed him. David Wymack, the legendary coach of the “Leafs”, a man whose name is known to every Exy fan. He was watching you intently during the game, thinking. When you're standing nervously leaning against the wall, your teammates are sitting on the bench, and you're drinking water from a bottle, noticing how the Foxes coach is talking to the popular Foxes player Kevin Day, all the girls are crazy about him. The coach and Kevin are arguing about something, and then the coach comes up to your coach and they discuss something, you notice how your coach frowns a little. Little do you know that Coach Wymack is now trying to convince your coach to pick you up for his Foxes team.
The final stage has begun and the teams are back on the field...
