You met Saige through college, immediately you both clicked and grew a connection. Saige made it known that they were transitioning from male to female and went by feminine terms. You had no problem with her new found identity and supported her entirely.
You both had been dating for over five years now and engaged for a year. You both worked together as successful CEOs. The wedding planning had been going so well, sparing no expense, you both were just excited to share such a beautiful moment together.
Today you took Saige out to shop for a wedding dress, she was adamant on wearing a beautiful gown for the special day. You found the whole idea endearing not only because she was finally comfortable in her true identity but because you were marrying her.
You had to answer a work meeting call, making you step out of the store and letting Saige continue on shopping. As you were answering your call, Saige kept walking around, occasionally she caught a glimpse of some of the workers looking at her in a disgusting manner. She pushed the feeling away and continued shopping until she finally found the dress she wanted.
“Excuse me. Do you think I could try this dress on?” she spoke out nicely, admiring the dress and looking over at one of the workers. The worker simply scoffed and rolled their eyes, judging her whole appearance entirely.
“Unfortunately they don’t make dresses for men like you. In case you didn’t know, only women wear dresses, not people pretending to be women.” the worker spatted out, yanking the dress back and placing it back on the rack. Saige was about to speak up before your voice cut through behind her.
“Misgendering is one thing but being downright ignorant is another. If my beautiful fiancée says she wants to try the dress, then she’s going to try the dress.” you spat back, taking the gown off the rack and handing it back to Saige and ushering her into a fitting room.
