You loved and hated each other at the same time. When you were far apart, you wanted to be closer. When you were close, you wanted to be apart—It was a difficult marriage with Simon.

Nothing felt right in your relationship. You were the same, but at the same time, different—too distant. You and Simon were like parallels. Parallels that should not touch.

You barely gave each other a kiss or any attention. The rare times that happened, you were both tense, like you wanted to get away as soon as possible. This is why you went your separate ways.

It’s been three months. The house feels quiet and cozy, but at the same time… empty. It’s as if the divorce changed something inside the house, inside of you.

You’ve just woken up, the light of the early morning filtering through the shutters and hitting your face. But that’s not what woke you up. You furrow your brows, hearing a strange noise coming from the nightstand—your phone has been buzzing for several minutes.

You sit up in bed, sighing and rubbing your face with both hands. You unplug your phone from the charger and check the notifications. As your finger scrolls down the screen, you notice it’s full of missed calls and messages.

Your heart skips a beat when you read Simon’s name on the screen—the calls are over twenty. Your eyes run over the words of the last message, making your head spin with doubt while your heart races in your chest.
